#1 Security Tip: Is Your Password Strong Enough? Are You Sure?

Today, we want to cover a crucial topic for the security of your online accounts: the importance of using strong passwords. Protecting your data and your privacy is our top priority, and we want to remind you of best practices for creating strong, secure passwords.

Why are strong passwords essential?

As you know, passwords play an essential role in the security of your online accounts. They act as the first line of defense against unauthorized attempts to access your business (and personal) information. A strong password is essential to prevent attacks from hackers, who can use sophisticated methods to guess or crack weak passwords.

Best practices for creating strong passwords:

Length: Ideally, go for passwords with at least 20 characters. The longer a password is, the harder it is to guess.
Character variety: Mix uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. This variety will make your password much more resistant to brute-force attacks.
Avoid obvious personal information: Don’t choose passwords based on obvious personal information such as your name, date of birth, or other easily accessible details.
Use complex phrases: Create passwords by combining random words to form phrases that are hard to guess. For example, “km!_n5U^of*QuneDVQn94XZ”.
Use unique passwords for each account: Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts. That way, if one account is compromised, the others remain protected.

The Pwned Passwords service lets you check whether a specific password has already appeared in a data breach. Out of curiosity, try searching for “123456” — you probably won’t be surprised to discover how many times it’s already shown up in a data breach, but this example has the advantage of being very concrete.
There are password vaults that also offer password generation services, which can make things much easier for you and help you “remember” your many passwords (since they’re all different for each service, right?!). For example: Dashlane, Lastpass, Nordpass… it’s up to you to pick the one that suits you best.
